Deadline for Applicants:

For any new or past agency requesting funding from The Country Friends you must complete an online Agency Contact Information Form and Funding Application. Funding Application deadline is August 4th.

Every request is considered on its own merit and we fund with two firm provisions:

  1. Funds given must be used for the specific purposes of the approved “objective” selected and voted on by The Country Friends Board of Directors
  2. Funds will be used solely within San Diego County

We Fund:

  • Agencies offering preventative programs (i.e., child abuse, battered women)
  • New or continuing programs directed by established agencies
  • Established agencies that encourage self-improvement and/or job training

Funding Process:

First Step: Complete the online Agency Contact Information Form. This is a short update as to the agencies address, current contact person and phone numbers. An acknowledgment of receipt will be sent within 48 hours. If you do not receive an acknowledgment of receipt please email: hcf@thecountryfriends.org.

Second Step: Complete the online Funding Application, with all supporting documentation required for the guidelines and criteria, to be considered for evaluation by the Agency Funding Committee for the following fiscal year. The checklist is as follows:

□ Cover Letter on Organizations Letterhead
□ Founding History
□ Mission Statement
□ Past Charitable Programs
□ Salaries
□ Volunteers
□ Planned Projects
□ Funding Budget (information to be submitted as attachment)
□ Non-profit Exceptions (information to be submitted as attachment)

What happens next: In October, our Agency Funding Committee, compromised of our Board of Directors thoroughly reviews and makes a careful and critical examination of each agency seeking the financial assistance of The Country Friends. A formal voting process determines the best use of our funding.

Then what:
Letters will be mailed out before December 31st informing each agency of our funding decisions for the following fiscal year.

Other Questions:

Our agency has been selected as a beneficiary, how much will we receive? Funding amounts are undetermined, our goal is to meet your funding amount requested, however; grants are pledged from monies raised through our events, membership, and the consignment shop through out the funded year.

When can we expect to see the funds? Funding checks are issued quarterly and are determined by seasonal needs based on the “objective” in the funding proposal approved and voted on by The Board of Directors. Unfortunately, we cannot give an agency an exact date as to when they will receive funds yet all beneficiaries will receive a check by December 31st. Thank you for your patience.
